Mitra was born in Paddington, London, England, the daughter of Antony Mitra, a cosmetic surgeon, and Nora Downey. She has an older brother, Jason Wath Mitra, who is two years her senior, and a younger brother Guyan who is a travel writer for Lonely Planet and The Sunday Times. Her father is of English and Indian descent, and her mother is Irish. In 1984, when Mitra was eight, her parents divorced, and she was sent to boarding school. She spent several years at two different schools, including Roedean, but Mitra says she was eventually expelled from both of them.

Regina Charlotta Theodora Lund (born 17 July 1967 in Vaasa, Finland) is a Swedish actress and singer. She is the daughter of actress Sonja Lund. Regina is no longer in a relationship with the Swedish rock star Joakim Thastrom. She is frequently seen in Swedish magazines with new men by her side. The last in the row is an American tattoo artist named Tyson. The couple was featured in Swedish gossip magazine Se & Hör. In 2007 Regina performed the song "Rainbow Star" in the Melodifestivalen competition but was eliminated after the semi-final.

Rani Mukerji born on 21 March 1978, is an Indian film actress who works in Hindi movies. Mukerji changed the English transliteration of her surname from Mukherjee to Mukerji several years ago. At the time, it was reported that she did this for numerological reasons. In 2006, Mukerji stated that numerology was not a concern; her name had been put down as Mukerji on her passport, and she wanted to be consistent. Mukerji has three homes in Mumbai, including her childhood home. She bought a bungalow in Juhu for herself and her parents in mid-2005. The house went through a two year renovation with the interiors done by Twinkle Khanna and Sussanne Roshan.
